This personalized connection between artist and collector brings a distinctive and emotionally resonant experience to your home, making each piece an unparalleled expression of taste and creativity.

We’re currently featuring three exceptional artists from the Avant-Garde collection: Rio, Aro, and Lynda Dallaire.

Rio

Rio’s art captures a vibrant and enigmatic world, skillfully blending textures, colors, and modern techniques that make his work both mesmerizing and unforgettable. His art uniquely combines acrylics with unexpected elements like crystals, stones, rivets, couture fashion pieces, and gold leaf, creating an added depth that brings each piece to life. Each piece radiates a vibrant, ever-evolving energy that challenges artistic boundaries through groundbreaking mixed-media techniques.

Rio’s colorful palette and innovative layering bring out a harmony between texture and tone that captivates viewers and draws them into a mesmerizing, multi-dimensional world. Continuously pushing his creative limits, Rio’s work invites you to experience a blend of refined artistry and raw emotion that transforms any space into a realm of inspiration and wonder.

Aro

ARO, born Caroline Bergeron in Quebec, is a powerful force in contemporary art, infusing her background in entrepreneurship and business with an instinctive and passionate artistic approach. Her work, often likened to lyrical and geometric abstraction, is crafted in layers, combining dripping techniques with expressive strokes that create a dynamic interplay of texture and depth.

In her process, ARO approaches each piece as an emotional and physical journey, engaging in what she calls a “ballet of expressed emotions.” She moves with instinct, embracing spontaneity. This expressive action painting approach, inspired by artists like Pollock and Riopelle, mirrors a dance where each movement reflects an inner melody, with colors and textures revealing a state of mind or feeling. Her unique vision is more than visual—it’s an invitation to experience art as a living, breathing testament to the power of self-expression.

Lynda Dallaire

Lynda Dallaire, a Quebec-born artist, has been exploring and experimenting with artistic techniques since childhood, later refining her skills through formal art studies. Today, her unique method of painting on metal, particularly acrylic on aluminum, defines her work. This technique brings forth a stunning interplay of light and texture, where the acrylic’s transparency on the aluminum surface creates radiant tints that captivate viewers. The final lacquer coat she applies enhances the vibrant contrast between the cold, reflective metal and the warm, organic shapes and colors.

Lynda’s technique goes beyond traditional media, incorporating unconventional materials such as coffee beans, which add depth and tactile richness to her pieces. Additionally, she integrates elements like amethyst and citrine geodes, polished agates, fluorites, petrified wood, and even Swarovski crystals, infusing each work with a natural, earthy quality that speaks to her innovative spirit. Known for her floral motifs, Lynda’s compositions are versatile, designed to be displayed vertically and horizontally, adapting to various spaces and orientations.

A fascinating aspect of Lynda’s creative process is her reliance on natural light—she paints exclusively on sunny days, letting sunlight guide the flow and luminosity of her work.

Showcasing Local Talent

In addition to our partnership with Avant-Garde, we’re proud to support local Vancouver Island artists who draw inspiration directly from the Pacific Northwest’s breathtaking landscapes. With coastal colors and natural elements, their work beautifully complements any home.

Dale Hitchcox

Raised on Vancouver Island, Dale Hitchcox’s work is a celebration of the region’s rich landscapes. From his childhood exploring beaches teeming with marine life to his formal studies in illustration and graphic design, Dale’s art reflects his lifelong connection to the environment. With experience in acrylics and oils and a keen eye for photography, Dale developed a deep appreciation for the textures and tones of traditional media. Today, he channels this expertise into digital painting, applying the same principles he honed through years of working with physical materials.

His pieces maintain the depth and tactile quality of traditional techniques despite being digitally created. This blend of digital innovation with a classic touch allows his work to authentically capture the Pacific Northwest’s rugged beauty and vibrant wildlife, bringing a sense of tranquility and natural depth to any home.

Cindy Moore Caird

Cindy brings a whimsical perspective to her pieces, blending influences from her scientific curiosity and artistic background. Educated at the Emily Carr University of Fine Arts and having exhibited across Canada, the U.S., and Europe, Cindy’s works transcend the visible, drawing viewers into a world where science meets beauty. Influenced by visionary artists like Kandinsky, Miró, Kokoschka, Schiele, Klee, and Chagall, along with the poetic insights of Rumi, her creations evoke an abstract, lyrical quality that invites reflection and curiosity.

Working primarily in oil on canvas, Cindy’s technique layers vibrant hues and intricate details, giving each piece a depth and energy that spark conversation. Her art offers a playful, thought-provoking addition to any room, bringing a touch of wonder and a fresh outlook, encouraging viewers to explore the intersections of art, science, and imagination.
