How to Create the Perfect Home Bar

There are many things from the ’50s and ’60s that are better left in the past. One thing we wouldn’t mind reviving is the home bar and cocktail hours after work.

Seeing as we aren’t frequenting our local watering holes right now, it’s the perfect time to revamp that unused spot in your living space for a stylish home bar.

These are the steps to take to create the hot spot you’ve been dreaming of in your home.

Negroni, anyone?

1. Muddle in a bar cart

A home bar is nothing without a bar cart. These stylish little items are a hot trend right now. It’s the perfect way to create a social space and display your glassware and premium liquor in a stylish and sophisticated way.

2. Stir in some seating and a bar or table

What would a bar be without seating? A nightclub, that’s what. We can all agree that we’re not rushing off to be squished into a room with a sticky floor and inadequate lighting any time soon. Instead, opt for a cultural look and feel with some bar stools or comfortable lounge seating for a relaxing cocktail at the end of the day.

The other thing to consider is where you’re going to place that martini glass or crystal tumbler. Gone are the days of precariously balancing your drink on your knee. Invest in a cocktail table. You’ll thank us later.

3. Shake in some flavour

Chairs, tables, and bar charts are the backbone of any good at-home bar. Now you need to add some flair. We’re not suggesting you learn how to throw bottles behind your back or light things on fire. However, you can spice up any home bar with some art, a funky area rug, mirrors, or mood lighting. Play around a little and take a risk. Just like discovering a new cocktail, creating the perfect home bar means finding the right balance of flavours.
