How To Plan The Ultimate Victoria Brunch At Home

If you’re a fan of brunch, then you know it’s one of the most enjoyable meals to share with friends and family. It’s a casual affair that doesn’t require too much formality and is always a great way to start the day.

Victoria, BC, is a city that loves a good brunch! You’ll find long lines around the block for some of the hot spots most Sundays. However, why not host brunch at your place and skip the lines, the limited menu options, and the awkward glances from patrons waiting for your table? Brunch at home is a great way to entertain guests and enjoy a delicious meal without the late-night characteristic of a  dinner party.

Don’t want to bake? Luckily there’re plenty of local vendors for pastries, macarons, and more. Bon Macaron, Crust and Fol Epi are some of our favourites! It’s not all about the food, though. You also need to have the right home decor to pull off a fantastic brunch in Victoria.

How do you plan the ultimate Victoria brunch? Here are some tips to help you get started.

Menu Ideas: Brunch Charcuterie Boards

Charcuterie boards are all the rage these days, and they make the perfect addition to any brunch. They’re easy to prepare, can be customized to suit your taste, and are a great low-maintenance way to serve guests.

Usually, you’ll see a charcuterie board featuring various meats, cheeses, fruits, and nuts. However, brunch-themed charcuterie is a new trend we think everyone should try. We’ve seen some stunning fruit and “make your own parfait” breakfast charcuterie, bagel, and waffle-themed boards that are a lovely spring theme.

A charcuterie board with brunch foods is a great way to elevate your morning and add elegance to your next brunch with friends.

Brunch Table Décor

Ensuring your table is functional and beautiful when hosting a brunch is essential. You want your guests to feel comfortable, but you also want to create a stylish and elegant space. We have recently brought in a range of functional décor items from Zodax that will help you achieve this, including wine holders, coasters, bar cart decor and more. The wonderful thing about these items is that they’re both beautiful decorative pieces and food safe and functional.

Another “must” for any brunch table is fresh flowers or greenery. There’s just something about brunch and spring that go hand-in-hand. A stunning vase or sculpture holding potted plants is an excellent addition to any space. Check out some of the stunning pieces from Harp & Final and see how they look in the showroom.

Choosing the Right Room for Your Brunch

What room in your house is the best for hosting a brunch? The space must be comfortable and cozy but practical—eating a waffle standing up or without a table is hard. You must pair the food with the furniture no matter what room you decide to entertain guests. What we mean by this is if you’re offering muffins and fruit, having brunch in a sitting room or living room will be fine. However, if you’re doing a waffle charcuterie, your guests will need to wield a knife and fork, and a table is necessary.

If you have a large dining room, then this is a great option. If not, consider setting up a breakfast nook in your kitchen or living room. You also want to choose the right dining chairs for your space. Uncomfortable dining chairs mean awkward, painful, and short visits, not because of the conversation but simply because the chairs don’t promote long conversations and comfortable meals together.

As the weather improves, you’ll also have brunch outside on a garden patio — if the bees aren’t too bad.

Convert the Cocktail Cart into a Coffee Bar

If you have a cocktail cart at home, try converting it into a coffee bar for your brunch. You can set up various coffee options, including espresso, cappuccino, and more. You can also include some flavoured syrups, whipped cream, and other toppings. This is a great way to add variety to your brunch; your guests will love it.
